We are seeking a Community Development Coordinator to oversee local environmental programs, organize neighbourhood events, develop engagement initiatives, and manage public-facing communication channels.
Core Responsibilities

Monthly Recycling Depot: Coordinate and operate a once-a-month recycling depot. Load, transport, and unload collected recyclables at various CRD collection depots.

Monthly Clean Team: Organize and lead monthly volunteer litter-picking events throughout the neighborhood.

Event Planning: Plan and execute community events using Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) principles to engage local assets and residents.

Communications: Create and manage the JBNA’s monthly newsletter and maintain social media accounts.

Board Collaboration: Work with the Board to identify initiatives that build social connections amongst residents and improve the community.
Qualifications & Requirements

Driver’s License & Driving Skills: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be fully comfortable operating a U-Haul truck for hauling recyclables.

Event & Community Experience: Experience in event planning, coordinating volunteers, and familiarity with Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD).

Strong Communication & Problem-Solving: Proficiency in newsletter production and social media management.

Physical Capability: Ability to handle physical labor, including lifting and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Compensation & Contract Terms

Compensation: $20,000 annually (part-time, independent contractor basis).

Expenses & Equipment: Approved project expenses, required tools, software accounts, and U-Haul rental costs are fully covered/provided by the organization.

Contractor Status: As an independent contractor, the candidate is responsible for their own tax remittances, benefits, personal insurance, and WorkSafe BC coverage.
